This is a shocking message about a Lutheran whom I thought was a sister in the Lord.
In “The Lutheran Who Denied The Cross”, I feel led by Holy Spirit to highlight one example of suffering for Jesus’ sake and expose why pastors must perform due diligence to know what a person believes before welcoming them to become a member in the church work you are accountable for.
The suffering highlighted in “The Lutheran Who Denied The Cross” was only for obedience to the Lord as I was being made homeless for upholding His Gospel during ministry travels.
All suffering that Christians endure is NOT for our Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes, our suffering is by our own immaturity or for out right rebellion against our Lord’s commands in His Gospel. Some suffering is entirely our own doing.
Paul, Me, and Maybe You
When he wasn’t suffering that, he suffered prison, beatings, chains.
When he wasn’t suffering that, he suffered women and men in high civic positions using their influence to make things hard for him to continue living in that city.
When he wasn’t suffering that, he suffered no money!
Through a series of ministry events, I was brought into the home of a Lutheran couple. The Christian wife was sweet and she explained to me that her husband and she had been members for Her husband was very kind and respectful. I think it was eight or eighteen years they had been in a local Lutheran Church in Washington State. As God would permit, it was the most influential or sizeable Lutheran Church in their city. Her husband and she were highly respected and in leadership.
The Bible Jesus grants Satan permission to try your faith in Him. Under your particular “divine appointment” of suffering, only by God’s grace will you continue to obey the Lord Jesus Christ. Otherwise, you might give in to the sins that Satan wants you to commit out of fear, anger or bitterness due to the pressure of suffering something you don’t want. Nobody, naturally, wants to suffer.
“Suffering Is Part of Survival”
— The Holy Spirit, 2022
Never would I have considered any suffering for Jesus Christ as a tool of survival. Perhaps some of you war veterans can tell me how this may be so. Holy Spirit spoke those words to me. Even now, in later years, I am increasing in the strength that the tool of suffering can impact for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The little bit He’s giving to my finite brain to understand this spiritual truth is found in Matthew 5:12, James 1:2-4 and above all:
“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
— TheLord Jesus Christ
While traveling in ministry, according to Matthew 10:9-11, events evolved wherever Jesus sent me as His prophet. On this occasion, I was in the home of this beautiful Christian Lutheran couple. Some scholars would say — that was another dispensation and God doesn’t want you to travel in ministry like that! Thanks be to Jesus that I am not a scholar, just His disciple. There is no such thing as a past dispensation when it comes to witnessing to the Gospel death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. From the ascension until His return is the continuance of the Gospel Dispensation and “all who will live godly in it SHALL suffer persecution”.
THE SHEEP JESUS WANTS
On a different occasion, I was in the home of the most “exquisite” Christian I may have ever met. I cannot ever forget her or her full name (which I don’t disclose). Tanya had the most uncorrupted heart toward Jesus — literally like an innocent child. She lived the Matthew 5 sermon with every person I ever saw her interact with. Often she wanted to talk about “WWJD” and her understanding of his heart is like none other innocence I’ve met. SURELY, when Jesus warned us that except we each become as humble as a little child, we shall not enter into His kingdom of Heaven, He meant — be like Tanya. Thank you Jesus for Tanya and thank you Tanya for honoring me with the gift of your presence in this evil world. Her love for Jesus made me feel safe, wanted, and empowered me to the next level of Christian usefulness.
I love you, Tanya.
I feel so thankful for my persecutions when the Lord shows me how it transforms me into being more like Him and exercising more power over Satan. Visiting with Tanya for the legal limit of days her “HOA” permitted is still engraved in my heart. Even the HOA was kind to me! What!?
Oh, did I not tell you?
Tanya was Lutheran (Missouri Synod). She explained her fear of God and obedience to Jesus came from her grandmother teaching her the Bible Jesus Christ after coming over from Norway :).
Tanya was devoted to asking WWJD (what would Jesus do) in her behaviors with people. She said that her Norwegian grandmother in the Lutheran Church instilled that love for Jesus in her. Thanks grandma!
This teaches us, that no matter what denomination you are in, you CAN obey Jesus Christ and shine for him. You do not need to be part of a particular denomination to love (obey) the Bible Lord Jesus Christ.
Howwever, your temptations to depart from Him and end up as a professing Christian are much greater depending on your Christian environment.
In some denominations, you are more likely to go with the crowd like the Christian brethren in some of the churches Jesus warned in Revelation. Revelation Chapter 1-3 is a spiritual parallel of us. Jesus gave it for that purpose of making us look at ourselves, today, with His same warnings and rewards.
Also, if your denomination or church changes from the Gospel and you continue with them, supporting and helping it along — Jesus numbers you as one of them!
BEWARE: A DIFFERENT JESUS
The Christian wife and husband were members in this mainstream, city-wide-respected, local Lutheran Church. She explained that her husband was on the board of the Lutheran church and had been for at least eight years. Then she shocked me —
Conversing with me one day, she (boldly) and with a very educated matter of fact attitude thought nothing of brandishing to me her convictions about the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
She said to me …
“I don’t believe in the Crucifixion. I don’t believe it ever happened”. AND SHE WAS SERIOUS.
Fearing for her soul, then, in my guest room I prayed, “Lord, please don’t let her kick me out on the street before I get to witness to her the need to believe in your death and resurrection and be saved”.
Later that week, I shared with this Lutheran whose husband was a board member of the Church (gently and seriously) that “you must believe the crucifixion of Jesus took place in order to be saved. You cannot be saved, nor a Christian without believing that Jesus was crucified and then rose from the dead”.
I explained to her that Jesus was born, killed, and rose from the dead for her — that He loves her, and that Hell would be her destiny if she does not believe this.
She was offended, being an upstanding member of this fine and polished Lutheran Church and whose husband was on the Board. She’s hearing after 8-18 years of being received and respected as a Christian — that she is not saved! She’s going to hell if she dies in this condition! Her own talk betrayed her.
She’s hearing after 8-18 years of Church membership that she cannot get into Heaven believing that the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ never happened!
I had prayed, “Lord, please don’t let this woman throw me out before I complete your will for having me in her home. Please don’t let her throw me out before I tell her of her need to be saved!
YES, first thing Sunday afternoon, she had a panel from her Lutheran church come escort me away! She was what Jesus warned — a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Praise Jesus! He answered my prayer! Homeless for Jesus!
Ask yourself, what have you ever forsaken, suffered, mourned the loss of, or had taken away from you for JESUS? Have you lost something — not by natural economic or relational events — but lost it BECAUSE OF OBEDIENCE TO JESUS’ COMMANDS — suffered it for JESUS — hurt for JESUS?
If you have nothing you can show as testimony for Him, are you still “in the faith” or have you shaped another Gospel for yourself and your family members? Are you still saved from etenal damnation? Are you a real Christian? Jesus said through Paul “all that will live godly shall suffer persecution”. Do you have any track record at all of suffering any kind of persecution for loyalty to Jesus holy living and His testimony about himself? Are you, instead, like the Lutheran — very easy going, respected for your “connections” in the community. get along with everybody — but Jesus knoww inside your heart you don’t believe in living His way?
Jesus said, “beware when all men speak well of you”. That means somebody ought to be hating on you because you make them uncomfortable in their sin(s).
My choice to suffer for this Lutheran’s soul was something I had done multiple times. I never may know until Heaven if she ever repented and turned to the Bible Lord Jesus Christ and his only true testimony — the New Testament.
Obviously, this Lutheran was worshiping a different Jesus from the one who is recorded by many witnesses in the New Testament. In fact, she had her own Jesus and wasn’t even worshiping the Jesus taught by the Lutheran Church!
Many of you are a wolf in sheep’s clothing that Jesus warned about. You attend a pastor’s church work, but you don’t even believe what your own pastor is teaching you! You are continuously dissecting and dismantling what the pastor teaches via your own Bible Studies. You, too, are a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Many of you have suffered for turning or trying to turn someone out of Satan’s kingdom and his damnation to obedience to Jesus Christ our Lord. You are not responsible for any results. Jesus only judges that you did the right thing toward Him.
I love all of you who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity and his miracle grace is only with you.
“Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.”
