Devils In Preeminence

Devils: The Looks, Feels, and Sounds of Preeminence

It is coveting superiority over others or wanting to be first in the consult, admiration, esteem or comparison to others. Note that ONLY JESUS  really IS preeminent! He only has the right to WANT that first position in hearts.

The following three verses give us a full picture of the character of preeminence.

Ecclesiastes 3:19  For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

3John 1:9-11
9  I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10  Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
11  Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Colossians 1:18  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Godly versus Ungodly Preeminence

Godly Preeminence

Satan is the author of confusion about preeminence in the churches. Satan is perverting God’s word, from the very heart of God, and is twisting it into some other motive about preeminence.

For example, Jesus, as Head of every church has “given” to His preachers, men and women, A”GODLY PREEMINENCE” — an authority from Jesus Christ, Himself. Preachers “hear” JESUS and get orders from Him concerning the directions for HIS church. The church is repented individuals, one-at-a-time, who are under our spiritual responsibility.

This kind of preeminence is the God-given authority of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers in our churches, today, and is explained in Ephesians 4:11 and again in 1 Corinthians 12:28. “Godly Preeminence” exists! We have this “godly preeminence” from JESUS CHRIST, Himself!

Jesus commands us to desire spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians  14:1 and we should WANT to have the godly preeminence that goes with the holy gift so we can do our responsibility.

We have been “given” this godly preeminence in the affairs of the church by Christ Jesus, himself — and not by the people.

It is important that you understand, bother or sister pastor, that we do not get our authority on things from the members we are responsible to gently, but firmly, lead.

You do not need members’ permission to obey Jesus — nor do they need ours! This truth helps us to understand Jesus’ own attitude about not needing OUR permission on his callings to them! You will understand why there is a sin of pre-eminence just as there is godly preeminence.

Things Jesus wants to do in His church, he can’t do! Things He wants to transform in people, He can’t, because we block Him — just as they did in Nazareth where He (God Almighty) “he could there do no mighty work”.

Keeping these facts in minds will keep us in our places and knowing God does not get permission from US to call any member He wants to for an assigned work to do in His Kingdom! You and I will be able to see the same “sin of preeminence” arising in our hearts, too — and shut it down!!!

1Cor 12:28  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Eph 4:10-12
10  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

These passages in Corinthians and Ephesians give us the beginning and end of our authority. You can know that you have already set up ungodly preeminence — “the sin of preeminence” in your heart the very first time you refer to Christ’s church as — “my church, or my people.

Beware! Only Jesus Christ suffered on a cross of Calvary for HIS people.

Ungodly Preeminence In Church Members

We know that Satan mimics the godly things that Christ establishes in the churches for Himself and for our good. Satan attempts to make a perversion of it for his own evil  work.

Satan works to tempt and move any Christian to want  persons in the church to consult with them, first, or GET THEIR APPROVAL (FIRST) before making decisions or taking actions.

This sin of coveting, lusting, wanting, yearning for superiority and attention that Jesus did not give you does manifest itself in the hearts of members in any church. It is our nature of the old flesh life in this world. It is the particular temptation of Satan against men and women of wealth and means, just as it is the particular temptation by Satan against women to covet attention for their beauty. It just is!

So, we must all humble ourselves to be willing to agree with the Lord if He shows us an area in our hearts through the preaching the Gospel directly or indirectly.

Devils Reactions To The Gospel

I preached this message on preeminence Thanksgiving Week, Sunday, November 18, 2018.

I had no idea what a reaction Satan would expose of himself — just like the devils who heard Jesus and reacted … cried out “Have you come to torment us before the time!??? I know who you are …”.

That very Thanksgiving worship service, my church work was shortly afterward split as certain members chose a pastor who, fully aware that they had been reported as abusive to their family while claiming to be a Christian, allowed them to remain in their midst while the sin was still a normal way of their living!

Also, over that message my husband and I, whom I honored as God’s man, divorced! He left the faith, completely, and rather than repent of repeatedly contemptuous attitudes toward the Lord, instead became “religious” by joining to a pastor/church where he would be accepted  as-is — despite his departure from the Gospel.

Also, the Lord sold the property that had been dedicated to Him for the church work and our lives in it. I had to continue Truth Seekers Church meetings in a new home for myself and the work, which God chose to be better than the former … for His future purposes. What a backlash!

Worse than all “for the Gospel” a person hearing that message went over Boise telling pastors and others that God gave them a dream and “told” them, that the Pastor (me) …

  • Wants preeminence,
  • Is selfish and preaching a false gospel,
  • Should not be received by the Body of Christ as being a Christian
  • If she doesn’t repent, is destined for Hell.

All this reaction came from the unexpected message preached about preeminence during Thanksgiving Sunday! I did not even know what the Lord was talking about, originally, when He commanded me to … “Preach this, today. THIS is what is on my heart”. So, I did.

I am, now, continuing to do what God said He wanted in Boise without those He ordained to be with me.

Every Holy Ghost preacher will experience JESUS hitting the nail on the head of what is in a listener’s heart. Often, we don’t even know why the Lord is speaking the message. We just obey. We get the backlash. Hahaha!

Once, in Mississippi, I was eyewitness to a pastor preaching on holiness. He covered a wide diversity of topics, yet (strangely) when he got to the topic of adultery — a man “leaped” from the pew to the platform, knocked him down, and started beating on him! The surrounding deacons pulled the man off that pastor!

Yes, it came out that the man was committing adultery on his wife! The Gospel is about power and the Holy Ghost does reach every heart when Jesus speaks through a preacher. The listener chooses to reject, receive, rebel, love, hate  … still, God’s word did NOT return to him void.

So, preachers, we are always at risk. Paul was at risk everywhere he went! So, I don’t play around. I mean what I say!

The “sin of preeminence” exposes your enemies in the church and what they really think about you!

Whiners & Complainers

“Ungodly Preeminence” manifests itself, also, in the members when they are whiners and complainers at the righteous things the Pastor is doing to obey Jesus Christ’s leadership.

When members who should be thankful and esteem you as Christ commanded them in Scripture, instead begin to push or proclaim that they hear God or know God as well as you do …  that’s preeminence. Two short Bible words for it are CONTEMPT and SCORN.

Some church members know a lot of Scripture and have many experiences with God — but they CANNOT know God as well as you (Pastor) in “the office” Jesus appointed you! He did not appoint them and gives them NO ANOINTING. So, even if you fell away from God, until they know both the gentleness AND the severity of the Almighty IN THE ANOINTING HE APPOINTED ONLY TO YOU, they CANNOT know God AS YOU …  the Pastor … knows God.

Even today, it would be SIN (the sin of a preeminent attitude) for you or I to think we know God as well as David does, or Moses, or one of the Twelve just because we’ve read their letters and had a few satanic battles! Amen!

Minister Clark

Whiny, complaining members disrespect you and you can’t tell them anything. They always end up living a sinful life as if they never came to Jesus. If they do not repent, they end up shipwreck or cast away from the Lord, as Paul spoke of two preachers. Sometimes they never make it back to our Lord.

Sadly, I was one of those stupid/foolish youth. However, thank you Jesus! He pulled me back with much grace and patience … and I have “never” left him again! Now, I am the aged who, with fear AND humility, tries to protect others from my own falls.

Ungodly preeminence, also, shows in the hearts of deacons and deaconesses. Sometimes, Deacon X or Deaconess Z cease to be content to serve and minister to the pastor … or the pastor assigning them to help the brethren. By changing their hearts, like Absalom did toward David, they seek (while still laboring under the authority of the Pastor) to steal the hearts of people that the pastor is ministering to — so THEY can get attention and be followed!

The sin of ungodly preeminence shows in the hearts of affluent brothers and sisters. These are rich or have connections/positions in “the world”, or they are considered successful businessmen or businesswomen “in the world”.

Sadly, due to IRS laws for 501-c3 letters, pastors often start the Lord’s work by making up a board of just these kind of Christians whose hearts are not yet proven and known. Some may not even choose Christians for boards, just skilled or wealthy men and women from the community!

Such persons are tempted to an attitude that seeks control of the Lord’s Pastor. They want preeminence in doing things the way “they know” from how they succeeded “in the world”. They consider the Pastor a country bumpkin who “needs” their guidance. Never mind what the Holy Ghost is doing and saying! If Joshua had listened to those kind, the wall of Jericho would not have fallen!

Surely, there will always be intelligent ways from the world’s wisdom to fulfill a task for God. Too bad for that — God likes to take the foolish and base things of the miracle working Holy Ghost to show the world’s wisdom to be nothing and show Himself GLORIOUS!

If you feel the invisible tugging of the Spirit of Jesus Christ revealing to your conscience that this sin is in you, Satan is using it to destroy you and those around you.
